High impact. If this is found on your site, treat it as urgent. It can lead to real damage and is worth fixing before anything else.
What it is
Detects the software and versions a site runs, then checks each against endoflife.date to flag releases that are End-of-Life (no more security patches) or behind the latest, with the exact safe version to upgrade to. The clearest 'you need to update this' signal.
How attackers abuse it
An outdated framework or library has a publicly known vulnerability. Attackers scan for the version and fire a ready-made exploit, no skill required.
Attacker playbook
- 1Fingerprint the site's framework and library versions.
- 2Match a version to a known CVE.
- 3Run the public exploit for that CVE.
How VibeSec detects and confirms it
VibeSec checks for this with a passive, read-only scan that is safe to run on any site. We use VibeSec native, webanalyze, whatweb and endoflife.date and base the finding only on what your site already exposes publicly.
If this is in your report: how to fix it
- Update flagged packages to a patched version.
- Track dependencies and watch for new advisories.
- Remove libraries you no longer use.
